Rooms
What facilities are there in the bedrooms?
All our rooms are equipped with very comfortable boxspring beds, a small desk and either
closets or clothes racks.
- Pavilion Package: these rooms are built to passive house standards, offering excellent insulation and a quiet environment.
- Castle building: renovated, but as it is a historic building with old hallways, sound can carry more easily. If you are a sensitive sleeper, we recommend bringing earplugs or a sleep mask.
Are hairdryers available?
No, hairdryers are not provided. Please bring your own if needed.
Are there wheelchair accessible rooms?
Due to the historic character of our domain, only 2 rooms are wheelchair accessible:
- “+3 rooms” Package (room Nr.30), groundfloor room ; adapted for wheelchair users (access via gravel path) including adapted bathroom and toilet.
- Houtschuur Package: (room Nr.24), groundfloor room, semi-accessible (threshold at the entrance door of the building and a bathtub in the bathroom).
Are mosquito screens provided?
Yes, all rooms are equipped with mosquito screens.
Can I use the room towels outside or at the swimming pond?
No, those are only for use in the rooms. Please bring your own towel for the swimming pond.
Kitchen & Meals
What is available in the kitchens?
Each kitchen is equipped with appliances and cookware. You can view an inventory list per kitchen (list for: appliances, kitchen utensils, tableware).

Are kitchen towels, dish soap and cleaning materials provided?
We provide a basic starter kit (dish soap, sponge, cloth, dish towel). For longer stays or larger groups, please bring additional materials.
Can we use the washing machine?
Yes, in the Kasteel Package there is a washing machine available for large groups.
Are there dishwashers and how do they work?
Yes, there are professional dishwashers with built-in detergent dispensers in Houtschuur & Kasteel Package. Normal household dishwasher in Paviljoen Package (tablets are provided.) .
Grounds & Surroundings
Are there walking routes nearby?
Yes, there are beautiful walking routes both on the estate and in the surrounding area.
Are campfires allowed and what are the rules/costs?
Yes, there are 2 fire pits on the estate. We follow the government codes for fires in nature and forest areas. Firewood is charged separately.
Are candles allowed?
We prefer the use of LED candles. If you wish to use real candles, they must be placed in glass holders higher than the flame. All candles must be extinguished when leaving the room (also during breaks). Candle holders are not allowed.
Can we place materials in the park (e.g. sauna, small tents, hot tub)?
Yes, but only with prior agreement and never on the inner courtyard. Provide your own wood if these rentals are wood-fired.
Is it possible to organize a sweat lodge or fire walk workshops?
Yes, but only with our partner organisations. Check with us for possiblities.
Is music allowed and until what time?
Music is permitted until 10 p.m. and within legal decibel limits; measured outdoor up the maximum is 100dB.
Off course it is also important to take potential other rental groups into consideration when playing music outdoors or very loudly indoors. You are co-housing 😉
What is the shoe policy?
We prefer you take your shoes of in the venues. Why? Because it is better to ground, to learn, to be present,… Same goes for the usage of shoes in bedrooms and hallways; have your guest bring their house slippers for a more homely & relaxed feel. And, off course, because it saves you in cleaning time in the end. In the Tuinzaal it is prohibed because of the flooring.
Cam camping tents or camper vans be placed?
Yes, on pre-arranged spots, with a maximum number of spots, depending on the package you rent. The entrance gate is 3.10 m high and 2.80 m wide, please take this into account for motorhomes. Eletricity is not provided on these spots.
Are there charging points for electric cars?
This is a work in progress. For the moment you can charge your car at the nearest highway entrance in Halen. There are supercharges there and it is just 10 minutes away.
How many parking spaces are there and where?
There are 80 parking spots at our parking (left from the entrance road).
Are there outdoor shower cabins?
No, these are not standard. Campers can shower at:
- Paviljoen Package: in the entrance shower in Inzicht
- Kasteel Package; in the entrance of venue Oostschuur
- Houtschuur Package: in room 36, as a shared bathroom with the people sleeping in that room.
For the Domain Package, showers can be rented externally by you and set at a fixed location in consultation with us.
Is equipment such as wheelbarrows or a golf cart available?
Yes, wheelbarrows are available. Use of the golf cart is only by arrangement.
Is outdoor furniture available?
Yes, there is outdoor furniture (tables, benches, chairs) at various places on the domain. This is shared material and intended for use on site. Extra furniture can be arranged by guests themselves or rented in consultation.
Are dogs allowed?
Only recognized assistance dogs are allowed.
Can the animals on the domain be fed?
No, our resident animals (ducks, swan, donkeys) must not be fed by guests. We take care of them ourselves.
Are there outdoor power outlets?
Yes, several outdoor sockets are available on the estate.
Are there outdoor power outlets?
Yes, there are outdoor water taps available.
Can I pick or take flowers?
No, the flowers and plants on the estate are part of the natural experience. Please do not pick or take them.
What is the waste policy?
We ask guests to separate waste according to our overview.
Is there signage on the domain?
Yes, there are signposts to the main buildings and venues. If you wish to add extra signs, they must be attached to existing signposts. No new holes may be drilled in the ground.
How does loading and unloading work?
Loading and unloading can be done near the buildings at arrival and departure. Afterwards, cars must be parked in the central parking area. Large trucks and buses cannot cross our stone bridge and therefore cannot reach the castle entrance.
Facilities & Technology in the Halls
What is available in the venues?
Each venues has basic facilities. Full inventory lists (per package) are available on request.

Are there projectors, sound systems and manuals?
Yes, most venues are equipped with a projector and sound system. Manuals are available on site.
Are flipcharts, markers and power strips available?
Yes, these are standard.
Is there Wi-Fi and how do we access it?
Yes, there is free Wi-Fi everywhere. If you are planning to work with large numbers on computer simultaneously, please check with us beforehand.
How do the door codes work?
Our main entrances work with door codes. You will receive the necessary codes upon arrival and can use them throughout your stay.
Is cleaning material available?
Yes, cleaning material is available in each package.
May materials be taken outside?
No, all materials are for indoor use only.
Are meditation cushions, yoga mats and blankets available?
Yes, yoga and meditation materials are available. Quantities differ per venue and are listed in the inventories.
Is filtered water available in the venues?
Yes, filtered drinking water is available in Tuinzaal, Houtschuur, Oostschuur and the castle.
Can any activity be held in every venues?
That depends on group size and the available materials. Not every venue is suitable for every type of activity. We will gladly help you choose the right venue.
Arrival, Stay and Departure
When can we arrive?
Arrival times are indicated in your confirmation. Tours are possible from the start of your rental period.
Who welcomes us on arrival?
A staff member of the Heerlijckyt will welcome you at the start of your rental period, provide the necessary information and review the inventory of the rented venues and any kitchens. This is organized in a walkthrough which will take between 0,5-1,5 hours. Please take this into regard so that you have enough time to set up and welcome your guests after this walkthrough.
What if we have any questions during our stay? Can we call someone?
Yes absolutely.
For urgent matters, you can reach us by phone at any time.
For small technical issues of practical questions, you can send us a message via Whatsapp.
We ensure general support and are available to assist with technical malfunctions and safety concerns. There is always someone within 20 minutes of the domain in case of emergencies- you’re never onsite your own.
For non-urgent matters, please note that we pass by once a day to check in and follow up on any messages. So response to minor requests might not be immediate, but we’ll make sure they’re taken care of.
What do we provide during your stay?
We ensure general support and assist with technical malfunctions and safety.
Is extra service possible?
Yes, depending on your package and agreed in advance (e.g. catering, made-up beds, …).
Is interim cleaning provided during our stay?
No, interim cleaning is not provided during your stay.
We provide cleaning supplies so you can maintain the spaces yourselves. This applies to shared areas, such as meeting rooms, toilets and kitchens (if you’re cooking your own meals) as well as your hotel rooms.
Please make sure to include this in your own planning ahead of time, so everything stays clean and pleasant for everyone.
Who provides which service?
In principle, you manage everything yourselves and we are only present at arrival and departure. Additional agreements can be made depending on your stay and wishes.
How is the collection of bed linen and towels organized?
We provide colored bags: 1 for dry linen, 1 for wet towels. At the end of your stay, you collect them at the agreed collection point.
What about heating and fireplaces?
We ensure the rooms are heated up to 21°C. Fireplaces and stoves (such as in the Tuinzaal, Inzicht, Hooizolder and Castle) may be used.
What needs to be done at departure?
When you leave, we’ll walk through the spaces with you as we did on the first day- just to give some guidance and make sure everything is in good shape by the departure time. For small rentals this will take 30 min, for langer rentals this will take approximately 1,5hours. Please take this into account when you plan your event.
ex. You rent the domain until 9pm = the walkthrough will start at 6.30pm.
What needs to be done by then:
- Room check-out at the scheduled time (unless check-out of the rooms is earlier)
- Leave all halls swept clean
- Return all materials to their place according to the inventory
- Leave the outdoor areas tidy
- In general, treat everything with care as a “good housekeeper”
Accessibility & Mobility
Is there parking and for how many cars?
Yes, there is parking for a 80 cars. For larger groups please coordinate in advance.
How can we reach the estate by public transport?
The Heerlijckyt can be reached by train. The nearest railway stations are Diest or Sint-Truiden. From there on you can take a taxi, or carpool with other people joining the event.
Some people take a folding bike the get here from the station, which is a beautiful bike ride following the old railroad until just behind the castle. It will take you about 40minutes.
Is there a taxi service?
Yes, we can provide contact details of local taxi companies on request.
Can we place direction signs?
Not outside the estate.
Within the estate you may attach signs to existing poles or fences, keeping in mind that other guests may also be present and you cannot claim all visibility if you are not renting the entire domain. No drilling or nailing into the ground is allowed.
Can camper vans be parked?
Yes, on pre-arranged spots and according to the gate dimensions (3.10 m high and 2.80 m wide).

What is not allowed?

What do we expect from our guests?

- Respect other groups and guests who are present at the same time.
Why do these rules apply?
To guarantee safety, keep the estate clean and avoid disturbance to neighbors and other guests. This way everyone can enjoy the Heerlijckyt in a pleasant and respectful atmosphere.
